Five Reasons It’s Never Gonna Happen

And What To Do About It, Of Course!

This is a painful post for me to write. I think the best of everyone and like to focus on the positive. As you might imagine, I’m an optimist. But the glass isn’t just half full…it’s half full and there’s an overflowing pitcher next to it with a faucet behind it, just waiting to be turned on.

I also don’t like to “call people out.” But these scenarios are literally hurting my heart and I can’t stand it any longer.

Here’s the deal. I know of too many people who have great potential to make a significant impact in the lives of others and grow a profitable business, but they’re struggling to make forward progress. Or any progress.

For some, I’m starting to think it really may not ever happen for them.

That hurts.

I really want to help them realize the opportunity at their fingertips – to make a difference and a bunch of money.

And after considerable thought, I think I’ve figured out some common challenges that they’re facing. If you’re dealing with these issues too, you’ve got to address them or you’re flat out just not going to make your dreams a reality.

(Obviously, I’ve got some tips to help you overcome the challenges as well!)

5 Reasons It’s Never Gonna Happen

1. You don’t really believe in yourself.

If you had a 100% guarantee that when you poured your heart into your dream, would you give it the same amount of effort that you are today?

If you believed from the bottom of your heart that next year, your business could make…oh, I don’t know…an extra fifty thousand dollars…would you get your hustle on?

Or are you holding back, not sure if it’s really worth the investment of time, energy (and maybe even money)?

Obviously I don’t have a magical guarantee for you. However what I can guarantee you is that by dabbling around with the idea…just sticking your toe in the water…the odds are assuredly stacked against you.

Dive in! Believe in yourself. Give it everything you’ve got. What’s the worst that could happen?

-I'd rather attempt to do something

2. You don’t want it bad enough.

Actions speak louder than words.

What are your actions saying about your commitment to your dream? That maybe it’d “be nice” if some day it “worked out?”

Do you leave others questioning if you really care about your dream that much?

Or are you heads-down, hustling hard, focused intently on what it takes to make your dream a reality?

Nothing worth having is easily gained. Yep, it’s going to be a lot of hard work.  You’re going to screw up and even fail sometimes. You’ll definitely beat your head against the wall (or the computer at least).

But if you keep going, you’re going to create something priceless…that you’ll never see, if you don’t get serious about truly chasing your dream.

3. You’re overwhelmed.

Yes, I know. We’re all so busy. There’s too much to do in your personal life, maybe in your day job, not to mention your businesses (or side business).  So I’ll ask you this:

What’s your goal?

Is this the right season for you to dive in, hustle and chase your dream? It may not be. Let’s say you’ve got a brand-new baby and just moved into a new home. Should you focus on growing your business? I’d suggest not. Enjoy the time with your new baby and get settled in.

Understand what’s essential. What matters most, now.

If now is the time…if you really do want to make your dream a reality and you’re still overwhelmed, check out this post for four steps to help you move forward.

4. You’re easily distracted.

Your phone…social media….new apps….emails…breaking news…new ideas…the shiny pennies that distract you, the squirrels so ready to be chased.

Get a grip.

You’ve got to focus.

I know, that new tool looks amazing. I know, there’s always another free webinar. Or podcast. Yes, you could do that too….or that. Mmm-hmm, that might work too.

Actually, none of it’s going to work and you’re never going to make significant forward progress if you’re constantly indulging in one distraction after another.

Yes, there is a season for learning. There’s also a season for implementing, tweaking and moving forward.

Identify the one next right step that you need to take to grow your business and focus exclusively on that.

5. You don’t know how or where to start.

Maybe you’re just itching to move forward but you can’t get out of the driveway because you’re not sure how to even turn on the car.

How do you start?

Well, what’s the goal? Be sure you know what you’re aiming for. Then, break it down into bite-size, prioritized, actionable steps…and start with one.

Where do you start?

One place to start is the free online class I’m offering live, next week! In it I’ll share the step-by-step path that you can follow to grow your business. If you’re struggling to know where to start, this will give you some solid next right steps!
